"I anticipate a time when law-abiding individuals are not alone, and wrongdoers are fearful, and all can find justice." On August 1, the CSR team had the honor of inviting Attorney Huang, Chairman of the Judicial Reform Foundation (Foundation), Attorney Lee, Deputy CEO, and Mr. Su to conduct a seminar with us on "The Past, Present, and Future of Judicial Reform."
In the beginning, Attorney Lee used the game "Quick Questions and Answers " to help colleagues understand the Foundation's history, committees, future vision, and difficulties. Attorney Huang then explained that the Foundation was established in response to Taiwanese society's expectations for justice, with the hope that the judiciary would uphold social fairness and justice. Attorney Huang believes that with effective judicial reform, lawyers will gain dignity. This will not only lessen the judicial burden but also enhance the overall quality of the judiciary in the long term. He hopes that the judicial system can become another protection of Taiwan.
Attorney Lee shared her perspective as a young lawyer on how she views and assists Taiwan's judiciary. She believes that judicial reform is closely related to everyday life. From ensuring justice is served and advocating for wrongfully imprisoned individuals to addressing current issues such as technology investigation laws, sexually explicit videos, digital ID cards, and drug-related matters, she hopes to encourage greater public engagement and concern.
In the end, Mr. Su shared his personal experience to highlight the challenges of obtaining compensation for wrongful imprisonment and his vision for future progress. He aims to use his story to increase the public's understanding and support for judicial justice. The Foundation's ultimate goal is for Taiwan to no longer require judicial reform.
